Freshman quarterback Ryan Perrilloux responding through school officials to a Nine Sports report earlier tonight says he is happy at LSU and has no plans to leave despite calls his brother Romel reportedly made to several junior colleges about the possibility of Ryan transferring before the 2006 season.

Sources tell WAFB Perrilloux‘s brother called junior colleges in Mississippi and other states where Ryan would be eligible to play immediately, enquiring about a move similar to the one former Tennessee freshman quarterback Brent Schafer made after his freshman season. Schafer played at a California JUCO last year and is now at Ole Miss.

Perrilloux sat out his first season at LSU behind JaMarcus Russell and Matt Flynn, after signing with the Tigers as one of the most sought after prep quarterbacks in the country.

Coach Melvin Spears of Grambling now says the family is denying the exploration of those other possibilities.

LSU’s three man battle at quarterback may be down to two very soon.

Sources telling Nine Sports heralded redshirt freshman Ryan Perrilloux has already contacted several schools about transferring before the 2006 season.

Several sources telling WAFB, Perrilloux’s older brother has called junior colleges in Mississippi where he would be eligible to play immediately.

This high school All-American from East St. John sat out his first season at LSU after signing with the Tigers as one of the most sought after prep quarterbacks in the country.

Perrilloux broke a commitment to Texas, then watched the Longhorns win the national title while he sat behind JaMarcus Russell and Matt Flynn at LSU.

But transferring to a Division I-A school would mean Perrilloux would have to sit out again.

Grambling Coach Melvin Spears also confirmed to WAFB that Perrilloux is looking to transfer.

Division I-A players can go to a I-AA school like Grambling and play immediately.
